Don't tell me that that's NOT perfect for Lily and Rufus. No matter from whose perspective that you look, this song essentially summarizes the longing and passion that these two have for each other. Yeah, the song was used on "Gossip Girl" but I couldn't NOT use it in a fanmix about these two.


2. "White Lines & Red Lights" by Between the Trees
Late night, driving home together
and at red lights we press our lips together
and we're holding tight now, slow it down now
Let's take our time, let the moment last until it feels right
holding back and not getting to carried away

This song, I thought, embodied both their relationship right now and I what I imagined their relationship to be like when they were younger. Fun, intimate, happy...It's kinda romantic.


3. "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver

And I told you to be kind

In the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines

Personally, I think that this song is really beautiful. It's so simple yet conveys so much. Most of that emotion, in my opinion, is exactly what Lily and Rufus are feeling or thinking about when they're around each other or in a relationship.


4. "The One I Love" by Greg Laswell

i'll bring your words along with me
maybe one day they will mean something

a little bit too easily

This song, in terms of the fanmix, is supposed to be from Lily's perspective when she leaves Rufus - either when she was young or when she chose to marry Bart Bass instead of being with the man she truly does loe. I thought it was really appropriate.

This could go both ways, as well. The song, to me, is about an affair. Since Lily and Rufus were never truly an extra-marital activity, I'm spinning the song so it's about how their families are essentially keeping them from being together. But, eventually, they choose to get together and they're challenging the relationship of the future - something they don't understand and are somewhat afraid of.

This is from Lily's point of view with how everyone's telling her to either be with Rufus, not be with Rufus, marry Bart Bass, be a better mother, etc...etc...She's getting pulled in different directions but all she really wants is to be happy - and to be with Rufus.


11. "Where Does the Good Go?" by Tegan and Sara

This is kind of telling the emotions and thoughts of both Lily and Rufus whenever they're not together - separated by choice or by force.


12. "Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab for Cutie

A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.

The two of them have a past that they each have to deal with individually and together. Not only does that include their romance when they were younger, but also their families and the events in their lives that have happened since then. Their hands have gotten dirty, they've walked countless roads. And yet they still want to be together - through thick and thin.
