Last day of Christmas Break. *Le sigh* Back to work tomorrow and I don't get another day off for...quite a while. Boo. As a matter of fact, I'll raise that "Boo" to a "Boo fucking hoo." WAHHHHHHH!

Forget the fact that I like making money. Forget the fact that I can't live without making moeny. Forget the fact that I am furthering the much needed edumacation of teenagers that are only a year away from college.

I WANT TO STAY HOME AND WATCH "GOSSIP GIRL" AND CHAT AND POST ON MY LJ AND MAKE FANART AND BE GIDDY AND JOYFUL AND WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

...And now that THAT's out of my system...

I think my New Year's Resolution to update Witty Comeback frequently is actually gonna come true. I'm almost done with my second piece since the last time I updated. So WOO! And I'll probably make some textures or whatever and hopefully a third piece by this weekend and I'll update then. As far as my LJ is concerned, I do have quite a few icons that I could post but...I dunno. Too much work. And I'm still pissed that LJ-Cuts hate me.

Blah.

Thank heavens for a new "Gossip Girl" tonight.

Yay! My first fanmix! I'd consider this one a success...for now, at least. And it's "Gossip Girl" themed because: A) I'm rewatching season 1 and remembering why I'm so in love with the show and B) It's easier for me since most of the songs on my iPod have that "GoGirl" sound. And, to boot, it's a fanmix about Lily and Rufus - the ultimate relationship that, to me, is truly at the core of the show. So enough with the rambling. There are 12 songs, bigger front cover art, and bigger back cover art. I hope you all enjoy!

'cause you're the only song i want to hearCollapse )

1. "Come Home" by One Republic
Hello world, hope you're listening
Forgive me if I'm young or speaking out of turn
There's someone I've been missing
And I think that they could be the better half of me
They're in their own place trying to make it right
But I'm tired of justifying
So I say to you

Come home, come home
Cause I've been waiting for you
For so long, for so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all I see is you and me
The fight for you is all I've ever known
So come home

Don't tell me that that's NOT perfect for Lily and Rufus. No matter from whose perspective that you look, this song essentially summarizes the longing and passion that these two have for each other. Yeah, the song was used on "Gossip Girl" but I couldn't NOT use it in a fanmix about these two.

2. "White Lines & Red Lights" by Between the Trees
Late night, driving home together
and at red lights we press our lips together
and we're holding tight now, slow it down now
Let's take our time, let the moment last until it feels right
holding back and not getting to carried away
Let the music fade

Cause you are the brightest star
I'm in love with who you are
And you are the brightest star
I'm lost without your love

This song, I thought, embodied both their relationship right now and I what I imagined their relationship to be like when they were younger. Fun, intimate, happy...It's kinda romantic.

3. "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver
I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind

In the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines

Personally, I think that this song is really beautiful. It's so simple yet conveys so much. Most of that emotion, in my opinion, is exactly what Lily and Rufus are feeling or thinking about when they're around each other or in a relationship.

4. "The One I Love" by Greg Laswell
i'm all packed up now early in the morning
i'll take my leave
i'll bring your words along with me
maybe one day they will mean something

for now they buzz and crumble down
a little bit too easily
from a time that i am not quite over
what the hell is wrong with me

[...]

but i should probably say that i'm unsure why i'm running
running away from, the only thing i want
yeah, i should probably say that i'm unsure why i'm running
running away from the one i love

This song, in terms of the fanmix, is supposed to be from Lily's perspective when she leaves Rufus - either when she was young or when she chose to marry Bart Bass instead of being with the man she truly does loe. I thought it was really appropriate.

5. "Favorite" by Neko Case
Oh lie
I thought you were golden
I thought you were wise
Caught you returning
To the house you caught fire
But I know that I was your favorite
And I said Amen

In response to the last song, I used this for Rufus' perspective when Lily leaves him or chooses someone else over him. He thought she would've chosen differently but knows that she DOES still love him.

6. "Acid Tongue" by Jenny Lewis
I went to a cobbler to fix a hole in my shoe
He took one look at my face and said, "I can fix that hole in you"
"I beg your pardon, I'm not lookin' for a cure,
I've seen enough of my friends in the depths of the godsick blues"

You know I am a liar
You know I am a liar
Nobody helps a liar

'Cause I've been down to Dixie and dropped acid on my tongue
Tripped upon the land 'til enough was enough
I was a little bit lighter and adventure on my sleeve
I was a little drunk and looking for company

This one, in my opinion, could work for either Lily or Rufus but, for the purpose of this fanmix, I'm gonna use it to show Lily's views and emotions whenever she thinks about when she was younger and in love with Rufus.

7. "Gap" by the Kooks
Leave your lover now
It's your turn
And see your mother now
I hope she's ok
Your better in defeat so
let's not try
to take away all the things so dear in our lives

I have to break down all
The corners of the world
Don't heap this praise on me
I know I don't deserve it
What's all this I see?
You're leaving right beside me
And I miss you
And I need you
And I do

So, again, this song, for me, was like Rufus was speaking to Lily when they're considering getting back together in season 2. He's telling her to leave Bart, to check on her mother and see if she'll interfere, and to come back to him because he loves her.

8. "Nothing Like You and I" by the Perishers
We spent some time together drinking
Spent some time just thinking
About days of joy
As our hearts started beating faster
I recalled your laughter
From long ago

There's nothing like you and I
Nothing like you and I
There's nothing like you and I

OK, this song goes both ways in terms of whose perspective it's from. I just think it's a really sweet song, really moving. And it's so fitting for Lily and Rufus.

9. "Challengers" by the New Pornographers
Yes I know it was late
We were greeting the sun
Before long
And you live with someone
I live with somebody too
Leave it there

[...]

Another vision of us
We were the challengers of
The unknown

"Be safe" you say
Whatever the mess you are, you're mine, okay
If that is the custom
I'm down

This could go both ways, as well. The song, to me, is about an affair. Since Lily and Rufus were never truly an extra-marital activity, I'm spinning the song so it's about how their families are essentially keeping them from being together. But, eventually, they choose to get together and they're challenging the relationship of the future - something they don't understand and are somewhat afraid of.

10. "Be Be Your Love" by Rachael Yamagata
If I could take you away
Pretend I was queen
What would you say
Would you think I'm unreal
'Cause everybody's got their way I should feel

Everybody's talking how I can't can't be your love
But I want want want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I can't can't be your love
But I want want want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Want to be your everything, everything

This is from Lily's point of view with how everyone's telling her to either be with Rufus, not be with Rufus, marry Bart Bass, be a better mother, etc...etc...She's getting pulled in different directions but all she really wants is to be happy - and to be with Rufus.

11. "Where Does the Good Go?" by Tegan and Sara
Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive.
Look me in the heart and tell me, you won't go.
Look me in the eye and promise no love is like our love.
Look me in the heart and unbreak broken, it won't happen.

It's love that leaves that breaks the seal of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go?
Where does the good go?

This is kind of telling the emotions and thoughts of both Lily and Rufus whenever they're not together - separated by choice or by force.

12. "Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab for Cutie
I cannot guess what we'll discover
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels,
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's
And not one speck will remain.

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes,
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too.
So brown eyes, I'll hold you near,
'Cause you're the only song I want to hear.
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.

The two of them have a past that they each have to deal with individually and together. Not only does that include their romance when they were younger, but also their families and the events in their lives that have happened since then. Their hands have gotten dirty, they've walked countless roads. And yet they still want to be together - through thick and thin.

X O X O

Please don't use the cover art without my permission and don't rip off this fanmix and try to pass it as your own. That's rude and distasteful. Thank you!

I'll probably make some icons out of the cover art later and post them on my journal so say tuned, if you're interested. Also, just ask and I'll upload any of the songs individually.

I hope you all enjoy it! I had fun making it!

So, I'm gonna totally post my New Year's Resolutions for 2009. Because I need people to pressure me into actually DOING them - something I've never done in the past. I always come up with some resolution but I never follow through.

1. Join a gym. Can I get that tight ass in a size zero? Bitch, please. You know I can do it. If someone goes with me...and drags me to the gym everyday...BUT IT WILL GET DONE!

2. Update Witty Comeback on a regular basis. Everytime I get at least 3 walls done, I plan on updating. Just because it sounds like a reasonable plan. Yup. I'm going to update my LiveJournal on a regular basis, too. E'eryday. Yup. I'mma do it. Maybe.

3. Learn how to build and run a fanlisting and actually get the Tracy Strauss one I got approved for up and running. Seriously. It was supposed to be done a couple weeks ago. WHOOPS!

4. Get Photoshop on my computer. This needs to no explanation. I want the Photoshop. I love the Paintshop Pro but I need the Photoshop to stay sane(ish).

5. Committ to the projects that I start and see them all the way to the end. That includes battles, written works, fanart works...whatever it may be. I need to get over those issues.

Yeahuh.

Now I'mma go work on my "Gossip Girl" Lily/Rufus fanmix. Even though I fail at making cover art, I think the actual music part will be easier than the Jenny Humphrey one I was working on (it got too negative so I gave up on it). Wish me luck!

How sad is it that my uncontrollable hormones have driven me to watching those reality TV shows on TLC - the ones about the people with like fifty two children or about people who have weird medical conditions or people who are renovating their houses or something ridiculous like that - JUST to try to find hot guys? Is that weird? It might be. I think it's perfectly acceptable (not necessarily normal) considering my...ahem...condition. But still.

And I'm rewatching "Gossip Girl" season 1 (I just finished episode 1.03) and I remembered how much I HATED Chuck Bass in the beginning of that season. At least my love for Blair truly blossomed after her doing an absolutely dispicable thing like "outting" Serena's "drug/alcohol problem" in front of all the Ivy League college representatives. But Chuck? I still don't truly like him. Only when he's scheming with Blair or sleeping with Blair...

And I'm also remembering how I only watched the "Pilot" just so I could see how BAD it was and how much I was going to MOCK it! Look at me now! I love "Gossip Girl" with all my heart - and it even got me into the late, but great, "O.C." So thank youuuuu, Josh Schwartz!

And the Getty needs to getty-deady on "Brothers & Sisters" if he IS going to be reduced from series regular to recurring guest star. The Tommy deserves better. And the Julia better stay a series regular with the Tommy gone. For seriously. The Heather hearts the Julia.

Le sigh...

OMG! And I've been making icons all day! I made like...54+ icons! All thanks to totally orgasmically perfect PSP tutorials that totally blew my mind with their awesomeness. See my icon on this post of Brittany Murphy to see what I mean, yo. Mhm!

What else can I talk about?

OH! I wanna make a fanmix. But I don't know what subject I wanna focus on...Hmm...GIMME SUGGESTIONS!

I wanna use my LiveJournal more. But I suck at updating things. For seriously. I updated Witty Comeback twice (well...three times but I'm not including the All-Thats-Left.net era right now because it totally ruins my completely effective argument) and I very rarely have anything to update my LJ with.

In other news: PSP sucks ASS when it comes to making icons. And banners. And  various other small-sized fanarts.

I can't wait until I can put Photoshop on my computer.

Then I will be in heaven.
